Diet
My children grew up in places where there’s an abundance of fruits and vegetables and lots of nutritious food. It has been a blessing for me and my children as they grow more alert and healthy. They ate a very hearty breakfast in the morning, and not much of any sugary substance to it. I feel that this is the key to start their day. They ate fruits for snacks and did not drink any soda or any sweet juices. They had honey and molasses for sweeteners when needed, but not much as they ate mostly fruits and vegetables. The dentists are often quite surprised to have children visit them as old as 12 - 13 years of age not have any cavities at all. I feel that it is the responsibility of parents to make sure that their children are eating good whole some food and avoiding as much as they can any junk food or any sodas, especially in the morning as the children’s first meal of the day.
I noticed that when my children ate too many sweets, they tend to be sickly, with colds and coughs, and sometimes fever. One important thing to remember is whatever we feed our bodies; we are what we will become. You are what you eat. If a baby is raised on a sugary diet, the result is not very good. We need to remember that sugar, especially white, does not contain anything except for its sugar contents. No vitamins, no fibers, nothing that will help their little bodies to absorb anything to stay healthy but rather bring down their immune system.
One evening, after having dinner with my son and his wife and daughter, we had a few bites of chocolate. The rest of the evening, my grand daughter was doing all kinds of somersault, even placing her hand on the floor and tried to spin around and around with it. She was so full of energy that she couldn’t sit still. How much more when we feed them sugary breakfast to start their day. No wonder we have children that can’t sit still in their classrooms and are very restless the whole day.
Eating nutritious breakfast also gives the kids time with mom and dad before going to school which is extremely important. This allows the parents to set the stage for the day and to provide encouragement. (Zig Ziglar- Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World)
